BASIC SETTINGS

  • These are the basic names and settings for a person with a:

  • user name of Bob and a
    password
    of Happy.

    • Primary Server Name (DNS Server):12.17.168.250*

    • Secondary Server Name (DNS Server): 216.239.175.251*

    • Your login or username: bob (lower case)

    • Your password: happy (lower case please)

    • Domain name: BauerCom.Net (these can be all lower case).

    • Mail Server: Mailhost.BauerCom.Net

    • POP3 Server: Mailhost.BauerCom.Net

    • Email Address: bob@BauerCom.Net

    • POP3 Account: bob@BauerCom.Net

    • Home Page http://members.BauerCom.Net

    • Dial up access:  246-1435   (Eugene, OR)
                               248-1435   (Albany, OR)
                               243-1435   (Corvallis, OR)
                               967-1435   (Salem, OR)
                               688-1435   (Portland, OR)

    * Only use DNS Server settings if your computer refuses to be set up without them.  

    If you fail to properly set up the proxy settings or deselect the "Connect through proxy server" you will not be able to access the Internet.

    Proxy Settings for Filter

    Internet Explorer for Windows

    From the tool bar select View  then choose Options… Go to the  Connection tab. Make sure "Connect through proxy server" is selected then click the Settings… button.
    To set the proxy settings to HTTP, FTP, GOPHER use: Filter.BauerCom.Net on port 81 and
    leave Socks blank.
    Fill in the "Do not use proxy server for addresses beginning with" the following: Filter.BauerCom.Net

    Internet Explorer for Macintosh users:

    Open Internet Explorer. Select Edit and choose Preferences…from the toolbar. Go to the Proxy tab.
    For HTTP, FTP, GOPHER use: Filter.BauerCom.Net on port: 81
    Bypass the proxy server for: Filter.BauerCom.Net

    Click OK.

    Netscape 3

    From the toolbar select Options, then Network Preferences… Go to the Proxy tab. Make sure "Manual Proxy Configuration" is selected then click the View… button.
    Set Gopher, HTTP, WAIS to: Filter.BauerCom.Net on port 81
    In the no proxy for field type the following: Filter.BauerCom.Net 

    Netscape 4

    From the toolbar select Edit, then Preferences… click on the "+" sign to the left of Advanced, click on Proxies. Make sure "Manual Proxy Configuration" is selected then click the View… button.
    Set Gopher, HTTP, WAIS to: Filter.BauerCom.Net on port 81
    In the no proxy for field type the following: Filter.BauerCom.Net
